Stanford Cart crosses an obstacle course
USA · Robotics
In 1979, Hans Moravec's Stanford Cart crossed a room full of obstacles on its own. It used a camera to take stereoscopic images, built a sparse 3D map and planned its route; the crossing took about five hours. It was an early milestone in robot vision and navigation. [1][2]
